Since the solar meter was installed in March, we’ve been getting some good information about how things are going!
In short, we generate heaps of power, but we don’t get paid much for it. Look at March for example:
So far, we’ve produced more electricity than we use. In March our generation (green, kWh) was more than our consumption (yellow).
But check out the payments. The dollar value. The value of the electricity generated (green, feed-in payment), is much less than what they charge us for electricity (yellow).
If we get a solar battery, we can use our own energy, and stop buying it from Origin. We’ll also have an independent supply of electricity if the grid goes down. We have sought funding for a Tesla battery to be installed with our solar system.
